About

HELLO. I AM ERICA.

Food enthusiast & designer. Loves partner dance, D&D, fitness, fantasy, and food.

Why I started Erica Loves Food

Besides the obvious? I love making food for people, it’s one of my favorite things, and I don’t think this is uncommon. But I can’t be everywhere at once, so I figured second-best is at least having a platform to share my recipes with the people I love. And, why not, everyone! Because food is delicious, and we should all eat well.

As a designer by day, taking photos and videos on my iPhone kills me a bit. But it’s what I’ve got for now, so bear with me as presentation takes a bit to catch up with the rest of the site. I promise, the recipes are delicious, even if the photography is amateur.

I grew up spoiled rotten by my mother’s food, so I have to thank her for that influence in my life. Food really does bring people together, it is the stuff of life, and I hope you find as much happiness, warmth, and love in these recipes as I have.

More Details

Character backstory

I was born in Atlanta, and moved to Maryland when I was 10 with my family. It took me 7 years and two transfers, but I graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art with a BFA in Graphic Design. I now work for a tech company in Northern Virginia doing both Visual and UX Design, which I love!

Favorite takeout foods

This is a hard one! I love Dim Sum, my go-to being xiao long bao. My city has a plethora of impressive Asian restaurants, which I love. There’s ramen, pho, dumplings, everything I could ever want. Killer panang curry right around the corner, too.

I also love tacos, obviously. Because, tacos.

Do you have pets? Are they cats? Do you have 3?

Yup. Two girls and a boy, all shelter cats, and one of my best life decisions. They make even the hardest days tolerable.

Why don’t you do alcoholic beverages/coffee?

I have Crohn’s disease, which absolutely is terrible. I’ve had it since I was a kid, and I have certainly learned most of my trigger foods. Alcohol and coffee are them, so very few if any of my recipes will have this stuff in it. Depending on my health, I can tolerate most or hardly any foods, but never these guys. I’m used to it, but I won’t be making you any espresso cake anytime soon.
